I'll see I'd I can find some of the studies.
Its not that it doesn't matter I think the emphasis on the studies is that specific training doesn't matter. From memorey they point towards That normal training conditions is enough for the core. More gym workouts engage the core and they suggest that training the core isn't of benefit.

As I said I'm on the fence. One thing though I'm not on the fence about is how you train the core. Drop the crunches and focus on an stability like planks. The Cortes job is to be stable Constantly. Crunches and the like don't teach the muscle to do that.

I'll try find some studies later on the computer.

i have noticed an incredible increase in balance stability with increased core strength training. I started core strengthening as way to improve my lower back issues and as a side benefit my ability to balance on the bike and my stability over all has gone way through the roof.

I would say core strenghtening, planks, side planks as well as more pedal time Smile
