What's the rule of thumb when picking out a DJ bike size? For example, I'm 5'9" or 5'10" and my comfortable frame size on a road bike is a 54cm. Do the 26" DJ bikes even come in different frame sizes?

In road biking, you sit down all the time, so the height/position of the seat is very important. With DJ bikes, the seat is not important at all, because you basically never sit down. Therefore, the seat height is always going to be ultra low to be out of the way.

The sizing that matter with DJ bikes is the "cockpit room" that I have indicated below. It's basically how close your feet are to your hands. However, bike companies don't normally indicate that measurement anywhere, so the next best thing to look at is actual (not "effective") top tube length.

A "Small" is typically 21.5" top tube. Medium is 22". Large is 22.5" or 23".

Wow, you're right. Not the same at all... Thanks for the details on that pic. Makes a bunch of the threads I've been reading understandable now!

So, for someone of medium height like me (5'9" - 5'10"), would we be looking at a medium frame?

Yep. Medium. But you could actually ride any of the sizes.
