The reign x I've had a chance ride were very capable decenders as enduro machines. They felt sluggish pedaling thoug, not do to the frame but components. I've seen very light reign x builds, so I would say i depends on the build and the terrain/lift acces etc.

I've owned the reign and it felt good pedaling but could use a slacker HA and bettwr fork then the fox 32.

I have a custom Giant Reign X built up for enduro at the minute. Its a 2009 frame with a Stans Flow Ex rims, X-fusion slant fork, RP2, KS Lev and XT/Zee 1x10 drivetrain and XT brakes. It weighs about 14.5kg. Its an unbelievable descender but you can definitely feel the weight and slight bob when climbing. But its all worth it in the end! Big Grin

I agree it should be pretty good, with better parts. The stock X2 has heavy not-so-good parts (fork especially).
I had an '07 X1 which climbed really well, but the weight wore me out on long climbs.

Mine's set up with coil/coil with crossmax wheels and big tires, VAN 36 RC2 and DHX 3. XT brakes/drivetrain. Raceface bits for the cockpit with a boobar. It takes any dh that I can throw at it short of nasty CAT1 racecourses. It's been taken off of 15 foot plus drops and it doesn't bottom out harshly at all. Since I run it a little oversprung for freeride use, it doesn't bob much when pedalling. However, it'll certainly be heavier than other bikes on the market. The picture that you've provided doesn't look like a bad bike, but having a RS lyrik or Fox 36 or similar up front with an XV fox float or DHX out back would certainly be nicer. I think the Reign X is more on the freeride side of enduro...it's fine to pedal up if you have the legs, but if you're not strong enough, it's a heavy slow ride up.

To address the others in this thread, I find the HA to be plenty slack. It has the same stock HA and chainstay as a small 2010 santa cruz V10 specced with boxxers up front. I don't feel the need for slacker HA. The tt is a little short for ploughing through rock gardens though, so that might be the issue. the TT length on my small Reign X (16 inch) provides just enough clearance for 5'10 or so rider to comfortably sprint on it. I prefer to have a more maneuverable bike than a long stable plow for enduro though.

In summation, (tl;dr) it's plenty aggressive for anything you want to throw at it with the right components. Downside of that is that it'll be heavy and you'll feel that on the climbs.

I don't think anyone put down the HA on the Reign X - I was referring to the Reign.

I think the conclusion of thread will be - frame makes a good platform for a enduro and the rest is up to the spec.
