Well, I broke my collar bone a while ago, and have since been in for two sets of X-Rays, neither of which I got to see. I went for my second set today, and asked the Doc if I could see them, he said it was illegal for him to show them to me...whats with that?

For sh!ts and giggles-

I would have never guessed that having your own X-rays in your possession would be illegal. I know when I got my MRI done on my knee, they gave me a copy of the MRI scan on a DVD that I can watch over and over again to deter me from doing stupid things. Well that's what my parents said at least but I did go to a private clinic to get my MRI done so maybe that is why they charge so much.

not positive but it could be because your under 18 and need a parent or guardian with you to see them...thats the only thing i can think of because ive never had a problem with doctors showing me my x-rays

Now that I think about it, you are likely correct. I'll just have to break something else in another 6 months and find outtup

My family doctor said he would likely be able to show them to me, so chances are I will see them in another week, give or take.

P.S. did the picture work? First time posting a picture with the new format...hope I'm not the only one that can see it!

i've gotten over 30 X-rays (couldn't tell you the exact amount, i lost count) and i have seen every one of them. the doctors never gave me any problems when i wanted to see them and when i was in like 1st grade, they even let me bring one to class for show and tell.

What illegal? I broke my wrist at the local lift park, my friend drove me into town, i got xrays and stuff, and the doctor sent them home with me for a specialist appointment in a couple days. We went to the bikepark and I almost lost them there (ahahaha), and than two days later i went to my specialist appointment and gave the doctor the xrays. I was in possesion of mine with doctors consent for almost 48 hours. I know they need them back eventually - not to sure on the reason, but i think it depends on who your doctor is and if he'll let you have them/look at them.

Nice plates, that musta felt real good when it was healing.

Theres been brief mention of me going into surgery to get it fixed if the bone doesn't start to mesh soon. I went in for a 4 week check up and they were still two very separate bones according to my doctor, and they flap around so I can believe it.

Man back in the day you had to damn near rip your arm off for surgery. Now its seems every broken arm has plates and screws dont doctors set bones anymore? would not suprise me. I think the surgery and the bodys reaction to having a pound of surgical stainless steel screwed into it slow down healing. I know its amazing what doctors can do to rebuild a smashed bone but much of the time I dont think the pins and plates have to be done. Thank love they did,nt put screws and plates into my broken butt bone, im in enough pain allready. Rest and heal dude

i think you only get surgery if they cant straighten your arm out good enough, he snapped mine back in place but it wasnt good enough and it was a bad brake.

Ya I looked at the Xray you broke both bones ow. Looks like in your case the pins and plates were needed.

did they take your pins and plates back out?

Mty expeince wasn't very pleasant but cool at the same time. I had 3 pins holding my joint together, and they left part of the pins sticking out.. and when it was time for them to come out the doctor pulled out his trusty pair of pliers and yanked them out one by one. Tonnes of blood but didn't hurt a bit.
