So nearly all fs bikes exhibit chain growth in the suspension curve.

Clutch mechs increase chain tension and make chain growth much slower and more difficult.

So surely they act as compression damping to any system they are in?

And so are shit for FS?

Yes the clutch should be working against the suspension, but when you compare the force needed to move the cage and the force applied to the shock (via linkage or not), in the end the clutch just doesn't matter.

But yes, strictly speaking, clutch is "bad" for FS frames, just not as bad as we could think.

Theyre specifically designed to 'take-up' the slack created by suspension travel, but you are asking for a spring the size of your thumb nail to alter the damping of a suspension design that is levered over many different fulcrums to amplify its' sensitivity? Negligible.
