Hi folks, with my Black Star 650b being due to arrive in January I thought I would start a dedicated thread. I know there are at least a few others on here who will be buying one aswell so lets use this as a place for info and tech tips or whatever

2015 Solid Strike Black Star Limited Edition

1st up I noticed there is a holster on the mainframe for a spare mech hanger (in the pic below) so I've asked for a spare to be included with the bike. Stepup cycles weren't sure if it ships with the spare aswell so have promised to include one for free, which is nice of them.

I have my Strike for almost 3 months now and I can say it´s a beast of a bike!
Light frame, long wheelbase and aggressive geometry.
Currently running 26" wheel setup but moving to 650b in December.

The spare mech hanger holster is a neat touch but my frame didn´t come with the spare mech hanger.

Just got a Cane Creek Double Barrel after the Fox RC4 and I can say it is the best shock you can get with this frame, the ride quality improved hugely.

Cheers

No problem, glad to help.

I will leave my first impressions in this topic after my first rides in 27.5" mode.

Cheers

Still waiting for mine..
Would guess that there will always be some people selling due to circumstances etc, interested to hear any views on it though.
Have you seen black stars out there cos there are a few different models of strike?

I will test my Strike in 27.5" for the first time this weekend and if this bike is amazing in 26" mode I can only imagine how it will be in 27.5

Just ordered a Black Star too!

From the Geo numbers and spec they should ride amazing. Just a waiting game now until January!

I'll be making shock sock for the rear shock to keep it out of the mud as the carbon rear mud guard looks like it just zip ties to the coils.

ordered a black star at the end of September, have to wait until the end of January!!
Kept to standard package just changed a few bits for cosmetic/aesthetic reasons. Will be getting a yellow Titanium spring to complete the look.
Question- is the carbon shock guard worthwhile or will a Mucky nutz/Fender bender work just as well?

Re: mud guard.

Once my rear shock is set up how I want it, I'm either going to zip tie a tube over the entire shock or heat shrink over it.

I have my rear shock (CC Double Barrel) covered with a mudguard I made myself and it´s fixed to the piggy-back. Simple and effective solution!

hello current owners, I was looking to upgrade the wheels but looking at them on the reverse website, they are very competitive weight wise, tubeless ready and look rather good. How do they perform? any positive or negative points?

Spent the day testing a mud guard protecting the shock, works well but needs a couple more cable ties to stop it slipping down the frame

The front one didn't do much...

you can buy a similar front one from halfords but its twice the length. Served me well in morzine last year, a little flimsy but worked.

Looks good, did you fixed it to the top chainstays? Are you running 27.5"s? Looks like you have lots of clearance
