I haven't had worked with these sliding dropouts. What's so good about them?

Head angles may come into play. A steeper head angle will give a longer reach. 1 deg won't be much but 3 or 4 will definitely be noticeable.

it's easier to get the rear axle secure without slipping, it doesn't thrash the paint on the frame as much, many frames have options to run rear derailleur if you so choose, etc.

They make nice nuts with built in washers, doesn't mange paint, and you can use tensioners, but I rarely need them on most bikes, unless it has crappy nuts, like the kids bikes....go figure
