I want to live in Queenstown for a couple months in the summer, but don't know where to start.

So I am about to graduate from college and don't have any plans. I'm going to race and ride all summer here in the Pacific Northwest as well as work. I have a job I can leave at any time. I want to live in Queenstown and basically be a bike bum during the NZ summer. I'm qualified to work at a camp as well if that can help me get there. Any of you Kiwi's got advice, or even know of folks who would rent me a room? Any direction is helpful.
