You still dont get it and Im not going to repeat it. You can go back and read if you want.

its pretty easy to understand but you don't

Main points being:

a) this is the first time I've had them ship to me with DHL and I've never had those sorts of fees with Parcelforce/Canada Post in the past.

b) Jenson USA are able to tell you exactly what ALL the fees will be prior to ordering including tax/duty/brokerage fee. if they can do it, so can CRC, if they so chose to.

thanks!

Probably because your southern friends are on the same continent as you.

Maybe the taxman has cottoned onto the fact you lot are importing and wanting a slice of your precious dollar by pressurising the courier postal services to penalise the average punter.

Either accept that this is what happens or perhaps ask crc to mark gift on box which well let's be honest now is illegal for them as a business to do so.

Anyway I really do hope you use somewhere much more local to you as we'll all be sorry when there's little to no lbs' to go to for specialist tools etc in the future.

No, read the thread. His problem is he would like to know who is delievering the item because the fees vary greatly from company to company.

That post has to do with importing into Canada. Why do so many people that live in other countries want to join in when they have no idea what it is like to import stuff into Canada.?

doesn't matter who you use to post it, you can still end up paying taxes. Its the same for any country, its not just canada that has import tax & sales tax. If you import into the UK, you get charged £10 from the post office/parcel force just for handling the paper work.

It's not the taxes that is the problem, it is the brokerage fees that certain shipping companies charge on.top of the taxes. DHL and UPS are notoriously bad for huge brokerage fees. Yes they are doing all the importing documentation for you, but they charge big time for.it. I avoid DHL and UPS if at all possible.

According to CRC, if you select the basic shipping to Canada without tracking it will be delivered by Canada Post. If you select the basic shipping with tracking it will be delivered by DHL.

Chain reaction has some okay deals, though I started checking the catalogue at my local shop and they really aren't looking as great as they used to be, I have been buying local now from one shop and he usually gives me a break on almost everything I buy, I'll stick with mostly local from now on.

Also Amazon...,., same story, great deals don't really come up too often, feels saturated now and I am less likely to buy from them.

The online market place world is definitely have a change I feel, it's strange..... Almost like vinyl catching on again I will shop local.

Sell low and get your clients hooked, then start raising the prices.

Yes, and when we ask them to send it without tracking but instead they send it tracked via DHL, we get smoked with additional costs.

That's the heart of our issue. They're shipping contrary to instructions and it results in big brokerage fees because DHL charges obscene amounts to clear items from customs.

I feel your pain ddean. With CRC and the hard headed numbskulls who keep on chipping in here. I'm the Ops Director for an ecommerce company in the USA. We ship all over the world and within a few months of starting up we had LOTS of feedback from our customers about how to improve our choice of carriers.

With Canada it's USPS all the way. You're going to pay GST, well at least only sometimes with USPS and always with the others. If we decide to send using UPS/FedEx/DHL for our convenience then it's going to inconvenience you with ridiculous fees, and that just BURNS customers.

I'm guessing that CRC probably wanted to impress you with "upgraded" shipping, but didn't quite realize the implication for you. The key to success is to constantly listen to your customers and when you do things, even with the best of intentions, that p*ss customers off you need to backtrack with a solid apology and change the way you do business accordingly.

Wow someone not from Canada who understands the issue exactly. I wasnt the one burned this time but I was trying to get those other guys to understand. thanks

Something tells me those other guys still wont get it though. I'll lay it out with specifics (from my experiences) one more time for anyone who doesnt grasp it.

USPS or Royal Mail/Parcel Force pass the package off to Canada post. With Canada post you pay a flat $8 brokerage. Sometimes with small tickey items they dont bother processing and you pay nothing. For larger order over $150 you almost pay all the time ( 13% taxes and $8 brokerage). I've never had Canadapost charge duty.

UPS, FEDEX and DHL charge way more to clear the package through customs and nothing slips through. A brokerage fee up to 30%, a COD fee and DHL even charges all duties on every item big or small. That plus the standard %13 tax.

There is even a class action lawsuit in Canada ongoing against UPS on this very issue (brokerage gouging).

It does seem that some online retailers have enough clout or moxy to negotiate a set brokerage/duty with the major couriers as Jenson USA does with UPS, this is really the ideal situation because you get your gear fast and at a very reasonable price.

Jenson has however started to offer a free delivery service from "Asendia USA" wow, first time using them and they seem incompetent. I have a package on the way from them now going from California to British Columbia, 17 days later and the tracking shows it is on the east coast in Pennsylvania, further away from me then where it was when they picked it up! To be fair, they did say it might take three weeks.

Wiggle just did the same thing to my order, switching the shipper to DHL. Really Mad . I contacted Wiggle to cancel the order, but if I don't get a response I'll just go to Paypal and request a refund.

Back on topic, CRC has always been great with my orders, But, if they're using DHL now, they wont be getting any more of my business.
