Convert Shimano Looseball to Sealed bearings?

Just wondering if it's possible to remove the bearing races, and slap in some cartridge bearings along with a new axel?

Also wondering the same thing about my Odyssey JC pedals, which are a paint to set the bearings up on.

O+

As for the shimano hubs.....not as far as I know, why would you want to anyway?

It probably would cost almost the same amount of money to just get a new sealed hub wouldn't it?

Saint hubs are sealed, so I don't see how this would be a conversion.

Short answer, no. Long answer, possibly. I doubt it though as most hubs have a race that will keep it from accepting a sealed setup. I also ask, why? A properly looked after loose ball setup will work just as well as a sealed setup. They are also a lot cheaper to rebuild. Loose bearings are a dime a dozen and every shop has them. Slap in some grease and a few of the little balls and you are good to go.

Don't worry about not having a fancy sealed set, it really isn't a big deal in the long run.

saints dont have races, they have a whole unit that pulls out, similar to a cartridge,if i remember the link was on here, some dude was sick of his bearings so did the conversion, had to do a bit of filing but it worked.

for me i wouldnt do it the saints are a very well made unit and my bud has had a year on his without complaint, although he did get the 801 which has better sealing than the 800.

Alright, you are correct. I could have sworn they were sealed, my bad.

I found the conversion online, looks well done.

thats the one,i think they are sealed to a certain degree.

it hasn't needed looking at yet so i havn't had chance to pull it apart but it looks interesting to say the least.

I want to convert it because it's easier to adjust sealed bearings.

My hubs run amazing, I just don't like adjusting how much pressure is on bearings, it's a pain.
