I am considering buying a specialized (demo 7) that has these wheels (stock on all freeride demos and sx's), I am currently running dt swiss 6.1 and am very satisfied, does any one have any reviews on these wheels dt swiss e 540? I am just curious how strong they are and what else any one knows?

I had some stock on a Demo 7 I last summer, they were very soft, and I would have preferred something else. How big are you?

i have them on my '07 demo 7 1 and they have held up fine under my 200+lbs weight for t.he one season i have had them....others have said they were a bit soft though (and this is the most commom review of them)...i'll have to see how they perform this upcoming season

150lbs? As long as you run decent tire pressure you should be alright with them.

When people say soft, do you mean like fold under pressure or just ovalize on straight hits, how soft are we talking here?

They make the rims so that the chances for pinch flatting are minimized, to do this the rims tend to bend, or dent rather easily so again the tube won't pinch.

Very sure, just hammer them back out, they are made from malleable aluminium (IIRC containing zinc). Mine are still perfect 4 big dents later, 1+3/4 years on.
On the trail, I'd rather a dented rim, than a flat...

^^^ What theoutpost said and same. I have the 2350 wheel set, dent city. Rubber mallet makes everything disappear. But, they look cool.

do they bend as easy as they sound, why would the rim be so malleable at the expense of a tube? I would much rather a tube than folding a wheel every month?

They don't fold, far from it. They just dent, hammer it out, sorted.

Its a racing concept. If you have a flat your race is done, a bent rim is still "round". Mine have been going strong for a while and so has outpost (from his various posts). They won't last as long as some others, but they're light and strong enough for me, and I'm 240 pounds and for a 1.5 years they're still going.
