How to dig up tall grass

I am building a trail in an area that is almost fully covered in tall grass. I have gone through the whole trail with snippers so it looks something like this:

I then spent a day digging up the grass with a regular shovel on part of it so that it looks like this:

It turned out pretty good but it was a lot of effort for a small amount of trail and I feel like there should be a better way of doing it. Does anyone have any tips?

ist weight allows you to cut through the roots with less effort. Once you get a rythm going it is very efficient and also allows you to do benchcuts.

Other Option would be to wait for wet weather and just rut her in Wink
