Fox x2 on a 5010

Wondering if anyone's running an x2 on a 5010? And if so, what they think? I Wanna make mine feel a bit more planted when racing and going fast in the rough stuff but as I used to ride trials and bmx, I 100% don't want to lose the playfulness as it's the reason I bought a 5010 over a nomad or bronson. I've got the standard fox float with the evol can, but if I get the small bump sensitivity feeling good, it'll blow through it's travel as soon as I do anything remotely fun! at high speed I get rattled to death. This makes me want to turn the rebound down but then it feels like shit and completely loses its 'pop' when I'm going slower and wanting to bumnyhop and manual..... maybe I'm asking too much? But Basically, I want a 'brolo' lol

Any other rear shock upgrade recommendations?

Cheers

Here is my Brolo.. the rear shock Cane Creek DB Air and is a 200 eye to eye x 57mm stroke, so I long shocked it. I went with this shock because it has more adjustment capabilities than a Fox or Rockshox, and I got a good deal on it. You can dial it in for park days, long trail rides, etc. I love this set up so far.

What fork are you running? When I had the stock Fox Float 32 with this shock it definitely over powered the front end and cause for a little bit of an arm workout. But with the Pike it feels much more balanced.

I have an Float X2 on my 2017 5010. The bike transformed into a beast after I did that. Amazing.

I have the x2 on a 2018 5010. It's long shocked to equivalent of 135mm rear wheel travel.
The bike opened up with the X2. Given the length of the bike, the rear can be chattery on the rough stuff, being able to dial in HS compression dampening helped.

Sorry for the photos, only way I could get them on is in the for sale ad.

I think The linkage would hit before that much travel. 135mm is cutting it close as it is.

if you're using a 200x57mm shock to long shock it, then based on the 5010 leverage curve you should be getting 145mm

I have a Float X2 on my 5010 (which I am currently trying to sell) and it is hands down the best upgrade you could do to that bike.

Hi guys, I very new to this rear shock measurement thingy. I actually have a Float X2 7.875 x 2.25 which I guess is similar to 200 x 57. I just bought a 2019 5010 Alu frame and was wondering if this shock will fit my new frame. The new 5010 v3 runs a 210 x 50. Thanks in advance for the advice!
