plz! i just don't want to settle and i can't get a bike shop to build the exact bike i wanna try all the time....

this is mostly to see how close i can get to my dream 29'er "evil-the following"

i come from a freestyle BMX background; dirt jumps, street, park. and love trails and have been riding for about 5 yrs now. still can't afford the bikes i need. had an trek 820 really fun but to fragile.....duh! so! i went with a scott yz20.
but no gears is not fun either.....

okay bottom line is i don't want another dirt jumper or BMX just something with 29" wheels i can man handle when i want
for less then 1500$

bikes that are to much but look great are:

canfield-nimble 9
santacruz-hightower
evil-the following

hard tail but if there a full suspension under 1500 lol sure idc!

also if it come down to it i am 5'7 so.....i need a really small frame and if it means i have to go 27.5 to get the slight extra agility i will.

i still gotta go ride some small 29'er and 27.5 to see how they FEEL. probably will make the most difference given my background with smaller bikes.

p.s. i am a hard, fast, competent rider! with good deal of knowledge in bike mechanics! plz TREAT ME AS SUCH!

Check out the Trek Roscoe 8. It's a 27.5+ bike (27.5x2.8" tires). I know it's not a 29er, but it's a super fun bike and has tons of traction because of the plus sized tires and it retails at $1250. I just got mine a couple weeks ago and it's a great bike with a decent build or the price.

But you can install 29" wheels on the Roscoe.

Hard to find anything new with a decent spec that is new, and a 29er FS. Most FS builds in that range will get you a Suntour build, and that won’t suit you from the sounds of it.
My suggestion would be to save your money and crack into that low end YT Jeffsy or Capra build, or look for a used bike. $1500 is a crap ton of money, and sadly that doesn’t get you far in new bikes anymore.

Canfield has some good deals on right now.

Toir - $999
Nimble 9 - $599
Yelly Screamy - $420

Obviously you'd have to build up the rest of the bike, but it'd be do-able to get the frame you want within the same budget of getting a basic YT

Yeah good deals for sure. People on other forums are speculating CB are going out of business - I sure hope not. Others are saying they're in the process of being bought out. I did hear myself they were considering moving the company to Utah.

FYI, the Yelli Screamy frame has been completely sold out for a while.

Start with a kona honzo st frame for $550 and see if you can piece it together as you can find deals on components or re use some you might already have. It certainly fits the bill as a playful 29er.
