My new Orbea Rallon is coming with XT M8000 brakes. I haven't ever ridden these brakes on my personal bike, though I do love the way the lever felt while riding friends/demo bikes.

Anyway, Wondering if it is possible to take a 4 pot shimano brake (Saint) and use my lighter XT levers, to mitigate some of the weight gain while gaining power.

I am a big guy (220 lbs) and I like powerful brakes. Am I overthinking this? Is doing this even an option? Could I use XTR levers as an alternative? Has anyone else tired this?

I run old XT levers with Zee and M7000 SLX with Zee and it works well.

Apparently they're becoming available for pre-order at this point.

Thinking I may pick one (caliper) up for the rear and use the lever i get with the bike.

But also, a good point. more than likely i would just get both front and rear calipers.

100% works like a dream, got the m8000 leavers on zee calliper (Saint with zee written on it). I can't tell the difference between these on my trail bike and the full Saint on my Dh bike

Good to know. Wondering if the new XT 4 piston will be any different from Saint/Zee calipers. If not, no reason to pay more for the new model when the old ones work perfectly.

think you've got to change the hose and banjo bolt,although someone may be able to clarify this.Thought about doing this myself,but it wasnt much more just to get a set of Saints

I heard this as well. Not a big issue. Just grab the correct Banjo, usually LBS's have spares laying around.
