Sektor Coil 26 to 27.5 conversion?

Hi,

I've got a set of Rockshox Sektor coil 26 forks, I'm wondering if I can convert them to 27.5/650b? Maybe a lowers swap?

I like the way the fork rides so don't really want to spend lots of money buying a new 650b fork, plus I have a straight steerer so my options are even more limited!

Any help is great thanks!

Not to be patronizing, but have you ridden a higher end fork than that for any extended period of time? The damping options in the sektors were always poor, and the chassis was rather flexy. I'd suggest a new fork for a few reasons - the new sektor is a totally different fork with different spring/damper options, and the 26" version is tapered as it is. The lowers on the newest model shouldn't fit the 26" model either, since the bushing placement (and install method from the factory) is different as well.

Why are you trying to get 650b lowers on it? are you trying to put 650's on a 26" bike that you currently have?

The reason I asked was curiosity as to whether it's possible. I'm thinking about a wheel upgrade for my 26 steel hardtail and wondered how viable it would be to convert to 27.5 instead.

There is plenty of clearance in the frame and the increased BB height will still comparable to other bikes.

I'm a small light guy so the flex is not an issue for me and where/how I ride, plus the damper is the rct3 from the revelation not the standard rl. The main issue it that I have a straight 1 1/8 steerer so for new forks I believe I'm limited to the new Revelations, which are £450 ish so out of my budget at the moment!

I just wanted to see if it was technically possible to do or not! I will probably just stick to 26 anyway but hey!

I don’t believe it is. Maybe look into 25” forks that’ll take a 650b wheel. There’s some out there for sure, that’s probanly easier/cheaper
