Looking for a new set of kneepads now that my G-Forms are shot. Looking for something that's good and breathable for trail riding/uphill but burly enough for downhill. I like the look of the 7iDPs, but are there other pads that are more versatile?

I have the 7idp Transition pads and I like them a lot. Super comfy and the shell is harder than I expected. Doesn't offer side protection though, but if you're looking for a comfortable and versatile pad for trail riding, I'd recommend it.

I use the Troy lee designs 5400, really comfy and easy to ride on all day and gives me confidence to ride the DH.
Sure not DH specific but Im happy with the compromise.

I have the POC VPD Airs.
They are advertised as a lightweight knees pad but in reality are much burlier than any other "trail/pedally" pad I ever tried.
Top notch construction, super comfy and stay in place. On con is that they are a little short over the knee.

Can imagine the VPD 2.0s would be even burlier and not much worse in terms of comfort

I use the ixs flow I think it’s called light weight pad, stays put well and hasn’t done me wrong yet after a few gnarly spills including the bike park going knee and shoulder first. Pedals pretty decently but they are also easy to slide down your knee if you don’t like the feeling of a knee pad while going up hill.

I really like my IXS Carve Evo pads.

Like the poster said above mine too are easy to slide down to climb in. I climb in then mainly because I forget to slide them down.

If use the fox pro D30 pads and they are great. I have heard good reports of the Ion Kpact zip, they won an online test here;

Leatt Airflex Pro > all. Fit, protection, and actual airflow into the pad while you ride actually makes them tolerable to keep on compared to any other pad.

Sorry to hijack the thread but does anyone know of any knee pads that extend over the shins that arent full knee and shins and have used them before or could point me in the right direction?

Cheers

Have you used these before? I have seen these but weren't sure how far down the shin they go. I think it's either these or the the bliss team knee and shin.

Thanks

No, I have RF Ambush knee pads, which go to the top of my calfs, so the Flank must at least go mid-shin.

Just checked CRC, Flanks are out of stock, but they have the TLD knee/shin:

Scott Grenade Pro II

Seriously though. Hands down the best knee pads I’ve ever head. Super comfy, zero slipping, no pinching. I’m going on my 3rd season with mine and they still have a lot of life left. 2 Redbull Rampage trips, and rocky hard Arizona trails and they just won’t give up.
