No, get slick honey or something similar. Some greases will swell your seals or deteriorate the material. There are also issues when certain grease mixes with oil in the forks. It’s not a scam, get suspension specific grease.

Can confirm slickoleum is either the same or similar and 1/10th the price. It is what I use.
Agreed that some greases aren't ideal. An extremely thick, highly webbing (stringy) grease is great for bearings, but terrible for suspension.
A decent alternative is a thick suspension fluid. Torco RFF 20 is super thick - more so than 30 weight from other brands. I don't know what damper would need that kind of viscosity, but it's great for seals.

The Torco works great and designed for air chamber & piston seal lube. Thinner then slick honey and reduces stiction on high load seals. Being liquid it will stay on the piston not push up to top and bottomof the stroke and reduce service intervals on inner air chambers
