fastest that i have used are project 321 lowest freehub drag, and adjustable preload followed by hadleys, decent freehub drag and adjustable preload then I9 and DT swiss tie, no adjust preload, and the freehubs are about the same drag on those two. have not ran anything else

The math comes down to a theoretical time saving of +/- 0.5 to 2 watts which if you assume the full 2 watts equates to 5 seconds saved on 40km with ideal position . Weight of rim and tire is going to affect your speed more than hub "fastness" also most of the researches done on the subject are done without load (using light oil vs grease will have an impact on results without load more than with load). So considering all those facts plus uncertainties involved in machining, different coefficients of expansion of all the different materials involved and human error (zipp has found that how tight your skewer is affects rolling resistance) the maximum 2 watts saving between your average hub and an onyx is moot. Get a tough hub with lots of engagement that is easily maintainable and you think looks good on your bike, personally, i got a hope pro4 cuz it is on sale and its red (everyone knows red is the fastest color)

Yeah run an old shit bottom bracket, Pack your ratchet full of #3 grease, bearings too, make sure they are vv or 2rs shields not llu or llb. It will haul ass man. While your at it dont mind rubbing discs either.
