I'm working for a bikepark in Japan. Me and my boss have a question about the meaning of "trail head".
We already searched about it, and seems there are few meanings. 1. Where the trail for descending starts. 2.Where the trail map is installed. 3.Where the trail starts from the bottom.
How do you use this word? We wanna ordinary and official feedback from all over the world.
We work for as MTB professionals we'd like to make it clear. Please help us. Many thanks in advance.
As already said. it is the starting point for the trail or trail network.
The slight ambiguity is likely related to the variety of trail systems, rather than multiple meanings of the word..
in that; on a single trail, primarily DH oriented, the Trail Head (or start of the trail) will be at the top. In a trail network, the trail head often has a map located there, as its the logical starting point. there can be multiple trail heads in a trail network (as many trail networks have multiple access points).
I use trail head as if it is where the trails start. If you park at the bottom and pedal up the trail head is at the top where the most trails start. The trail head for individual trails is just the start. The beginning of a trail is the head of the trail.
