Cannondale mtb reliable?

Hi,

I'm a roadie , but I like mtb since 3 years, I've always had a cannondale road bikes.

Many, and awesone bikes but in mtb, not sure if cannondale has the same reputation? Yep some innovations, like lefty but I spoke with 2 guys from cannondale store, yes they sell santa cruz and kona and they ride cannondale road bikes but in mtb they dont want to sell cannondale mtb anymore, they appear to have some bad experiences with mtb frame , with their customers , warranty etc.

The new habit seems to be good but the upgrade seems to be what specialized do on their bikes since a while.

Stumpjumper , horstlink, the suspension .

My first mtb was a Cannondale. Admittedly it was an entry level hardtail but what a creaking piece of shit. Something was always creaking. I'd fix one and then something else would start or after one ride or two rides the same thing would start. I went back to a borrowed Nishiki for a bit until I got a better bike and it was much better despite have years of abuse on it (and not having better components really). It completely turned me off Cannondale but like I said it was an entry level hardtail so take that with a pinch of salt.

Why don't you go for a Kona for example, great bikes, great value for the money, and this is what your LBS is selling. I would ask for a test ride, give it a try.
Santa Cruz bikes are great but more expensive too.
In general, try to test as many bikes as possible. Depending on your skills, your morphology, the trails you ride etc., you might not benefit from indirect advices towards a brand or a model.

Cannondale lost their MTB way for a lot of years but I'd recommend any of their current MTBs, they're putting out as good a bike as anybody.
