What is a super high setback/offset seatpost?

My standing geometry is perfect, my sitting geo is perfect too with the seat slammed all the way back, but this is putting way too much leverage on the rails. My current post is 20mm, I think with even 1cm more offset it will be ok, but the more the better.

The seatpost also needs tilt adjustment to compensate for the vertical steep seattube angle on my frame. Ideally light, and black but geometry is the main priority.. For cost I am willing to pay more if it's lighter. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Well after 100 million hours of searching I found these. They are both 40+mm offset. The first one looks totally ideal. It's cheap, it's ridiculously long so it will work on any bike, it's aluminum and it's good weight... Light but not too light so it's probably strong and it looks easy to mod. Can probably add more tilt adjustment easily. It does have tilt adjustment, but it changes the offset so if you are buying it for the offset, then the tilt adjustment is useless.

The second one is counterfeit I think, and expensive. Only reason to buy it I think is the tilt adjustment. Or if you are a weight weenie. I am a weight weenie and I still didn't buy it. I would say it's too dam light to be safe. It's a lot more offset than a normal pole and lighter than most carbon poles, I wouldn't trust it unless you are like 130lbs.

Someone is going to thank me for this hahaha. It's really hard to find a 40mm offset pole for under 200usd. That is more than a lot of droppers hahaha. I don't understand why variable geometry seatposts isn't a thing. You can get stems from 30mm to 150mm, but it's very very rare to find a seatpost over 20mm. None of the bike shops in town could even order them in.

The 9.8 fall line can do 25mm offset forwards and back. I think it's the only name brand post on the market that features offset.

I've personally destroyed a few posts and saddles from running them way too far forward. I'm surprised we dont see more of these on the market, easy way to add a degree or two of seat tube angle.

Edit: Im talking dropper posts, used to see lots of offset normal posts back in the day before droppers.

In terms of the Chinese stuff I buy a ton of stuff off aliexpress, most of it is good. I wouldn't say there is much of a difference between reputable brands and good Chinese brands to be honest. If you buy cheap econo parts from reputable brands they usually are trash... Like altus is warlmart quality. The high quality Chinese stuff is very good. For some reason people always compare cheap Chinese crap to high quality expensive western brands. When it's apples to apples I would actually say there is little difference.

Yeah I keep getting told by everyone you need a bigger/smaller frame. That is ridiculous. A frame can have the exact right wheelbase, but then not have the seattube angle you like. It's very rare manufacturers will make the same size frame with different angle seattubes... And even when the frame is too large/small a good 90% of riders would rather spend 50$ on a post and stem than 1000$ on a new frame.

Velo orange makes a 30ish mm setback but I can’t recall what it is called. You might try and find a saddle with a longer rail profile as well.

You need bike with longer reach in general, you can compensate on this one with 40mm offset seatposts, but this puts you into less optimum pedaling position (further behind the BB). Would suggest that your next bike is proper size without need for out-of-normal solutions.

There is a reason why bikes are not all S size and then customized to every customer with 30-150mm stems and -60 to
60mm offset seatposts... Big Grin

Different bikes have different seat tube angles. As of such two medium frames can have totally different sitting geometry while having the same standing geometry/reach. You can't always predict how a bike will feel when you are buying it especially if you buy just the frame. I think it's a lot easier to spend 30$ on a seatpole than 1000$ on a new frame to have the exact same geo. In fact my last frame was the exact same size, and I had the opposite problem. I had to run a negatively offset seatpost and slam the seat all the way forward because seat tube angle was so shallow. Even with 25mm of negative offset I was too stretched out.

I see you're in Calgary. I'd sell you mine, except I'm using it on my frankenbike commuter!

It looked that way when I searched for that photo. Some stores had them listed, though those could've been outdated ads, and they sometimes pop up on eBay and bike website classifieds.

A lot of bikes you can't demo. If you buy a bike piece by piece you can't demo anything. I did read the data, it's hard to predict how a 2-5 degree difference in seattube angle will feel. Plus your headtube angle affects your seattube angle too. My new frame has a steeper headtube, so this causes the front end to rise and makes the seattube angle change.
