Ordering Commencal from CRC to Canada?

Hi all- Just looking to get a Meta TR 29 from Chain Reaction Cycles. Has anyone done this from Canada that can share experience?
Are these bikes build in USA now? I think Duty would be less if that’s the case. Looking for total “extra” costs. Thanks!

I've ordered my clash directly from commencalcanada

honestly you're gonna pay sooo much in imports charge that I would suggest go with the 2019/2018 model , there's still 2 frames up for grab is your up to build it yourself I think you can do the "a la carte" option for a fully custom build on the site directly

Commencal Canada Ships from Squamish. You could order the 2020 signature series and pay less than you will for the bike from CRC. The duty paid option from CRC adds $1441 to the price of the bike... So I would imagine that duty and import fees are going to be in that ball park (if you chose one of the other shipping options).

If you look at the CRA site for the costs on bikes, you will see it is cost prohibitive for an entire bike. If I recall, it is 13% charge on the value for an entire bike and only 5% if it is parts?

Go through CommencalCanada and get one there. Make sure you have all your parts ordered at once because their response time through emails if you need to amend/ update etc is a few days in between each email.

CRC has gotten bad over the last year.

Free shipping used to mean that an order would be sent and you may not have any duty/customs fee, depending on how it is sent and if Canada Post decides to charge. Usually, if it was under $150 CAD and you could avoid that.

Now, it is coming through some company called SkyNet for any value and it is minimum $20. Merlin is the same way, except using FedEx.

Thanks All - I'll let you all know how I make out. I have a question around large feet, and chain/seat stays (rubbing).. I'll post that separately. Much appreciated everyone..

The extra cost is not much more than purchasing the RIDE model from CRC considering the tax, duty etc.

CRC customer service is god awful. Wouldn't even order parts from CRC after my previous experiences much less an entire bike.

Yeah I got the Race from Squamish for about what it would have cost for the Ride model from CRC... so I’m happy. Thanks for the input all.
