Aaron Gwin to Join Crestline as Rider & Part-Owner for 2024 - Full Interview & Podcast
@jaytdubs: Sure let's talk about the size of the pie. What's the TAM for DH race bikes + overpriced ebikes? Also, R&D? Sure Gwin would be able to contribute to kinematics, geo, but do you really think he knows anything about frame design, carbon manufacturing, QA/QC? MTBs have converged on the linkages, proportions and angles - there's hardly anyone doing anything wildly different these days. If I was seriously thinking about buying an expensive bike from a tiny company, my concerns would be on durability, quality, and whether the company will be around in a few years to support the frame. Gwin's presence doesn't change any of that.

He's not buying in, and Crestline is still sponsoring Gwin racing...so these guys gave away a third of their company for nothing? Sure Gwin's a legend but maybe they've overestimated the power of marketing.

The End of Intense Factory Racing Officially Announced
Don't know how Intense has the funds to sponsor anything. In the past year I can probably count on one hand the number of Intense bikes I've seen out on the trails and on car racks. And I'm in BC so sample size is not small.

Trailforks 2023 Development Updates
@canadaka: Presumably it would be the same app for all WatchOS devices? Peasant here with a Watch SE, but if you had an app that also has HR recording, I'd drop Strava entirely.

Pinkbike Poll: What Are Your Must-Have Features On a New Mountain Bike?
Interesting that the majority of respondents want full 29ers. Just reinforces my suspicion that mullet bikes is just an industry ploy to sell new bikes.

First Look: Transition TransAM Steel Hardtail
Eh, I have a 150mm Lyrik on my Norco Torrent. Feels great. With such a slack static HTA, I never felt like the front end got too steep even in heavy compressions.

Field Test Review: 2023 Unno Burn - You Know You're Curious
@drbino: I just saw Enduro's North American bike brands shootout today and was surprised that they criticized the Lowdown and the Arrival 170 as being poor climbers. Are the Euros just smashing out massive watts or maybe they just have smoother less techy climbs?

Field Test Review: 2024 Commencal Meta 5 SX - Supercross for a Reason
@g-42: Yep. I had the same feeling about my 2021 Meta AM 29 - incredible with steep or speed, but unwieldy otherwise. That bike had even more extreme geo with 63.5 HTA, 495 reach and 433 chainstay. My theory was that the unbalanced FC/RC caused this but this bike is much more normal in that sense and Henry still feels the same way so I'm stumped.

Field Test Review: 2024 Commencal Meta 5 SX - Supercross for a Reason
Did we read the same article? I thought NSMB's point was focused around the high stack, and requiring either high speed or steep descents to make the bike work properly.
