I am looking at buying a used yeti sb130 or 150. Is the frame cracking a real issue? I don't want to spend 5k on a bike and have the frame break if you know what I mean.
If you are buying it new then you have a lifetime warranty for that, I don't remember if it covers user error and not just it cracking from manufacturer defects but I imagine if Yeti didn't replace the part for free you would get it at a much lower price. Besides an expensive bike like that you really should be buying insurance for it, in which case new ir used it should be covered for major damage like that anyway. Scratches, scuffs ect insurance doesn't cover however so get it invisiframed.

I had a 150 for under a year and a 130 for ~6 months. The 150 had 4 frame cracks and 1 linkage issue that were all replaced by warranty, it was sold with under a 1,000 miles. 130 had a cracked rear triangle at under 300 miles that was replaced by warranty. They certainly stepped up and took care of each issue that usually had some downtime (~2 weeks). After the 130 cracked, I sold it and decided against getting another 150. To me it no longer became an a matter of having a warranty but the time and hassle involved with fixing. I was always worried about riding a bike before a race or trip.
Thanks for posting that up, can I ask what did you go to? I'm looking at SB140's right now.
Thx, Brian
