First Ride: the Trek Slash+ Sets a High Bar
@Shannyla: I don't get why anyone gives crap how rich anyone else is anyway..if some dude drives past in a Porsche or whatever I might admire the car and be like that's a nice car and that's about it...I don't give a crap who is sitting behind the wheel or how much money he has. I know plenty of intelligent skilled decent people on low pay and rich people or managers that have the iq of a baboon, wealth doesn't impress me in the slightest. What's so impressive about some dentist grabbing a sharp implement and gouging your tooth out and getting 1k for it? A monkey could do that...same for many other jobs, wealth isn't an indicator of capability or intelligence and likewise things you own aren't also always an indicator of wealth either...for all you know that guy rolling in his Porsche might have come into 300k inheritance...who gives a crap...and if he did work hard, is decent person and set up his own business or whatever then fair play to him, he deserves it.

First Ride: the Trek Slash+ Sets a High Bar
Anyone can take a loan or finance, I wouldn't always use what people own as an indicator of wealth... I've seen Ferrari f430's, Aston Martins and Dodge Challengers parked in the driveways or outside council houses I'm some of the more deprived areas of the country. Meanwhile I know people who are very well off and drive conventional cars some even old bangers. An Aston Martin can be had less than 30k on Autotrader, a yeti sb150 around 2.5 on Ebay, an older generation Range Rover less than 10k, anyone can 'look' rich...especially if they don't manage their finances in a sensible manner, taking credits left right and centre, 50k in debt and living in a house provided to them by the council.

ZF Unveils New Ultra Compact E-Bike Drive Unit - Eurobike 2024
Considering they also specialise in gearboxes they missed a big trick here...sure something is in the works though, it must be...

Drone Manufacturer DJI Debuts Light & Powerful eMTB Motor - Eurobike 2024
Good to see the increase in power and reduced weight but the pinion with gearbox built in still seems like the way forwards and the one I rather have. If I wanted more power and a lightweight motor there is a number of add on motors putting out up to 5000 watts for similar weight...this may be better than the Shimank or Bosch systems but I wouldn't class it as a technical achievement, there is some rc car in runner motors putting out 15kw at sub 1kg, granted without the gearbox reduction.

Goodyear Announces New Wrangler MTF & MTR Tires
@truenorthsimon: I don't know which tyres you experience but the Goodyear Asymetric 6 I had on are the best all year round car tyres I've tried so far, better than the Continentals I have on now that cost even more. Better dry and wet grip cornering, less rolling noise and what appears to be less rolling resistance, better feel and stability, more damped smoother ride, lower tread wear rate, way better braking performance and way better hydroplaning performance all for 30 quid less per tyre. I've not tried the 400 quid a pop full on summer sports tyres, but in the mid range all year round performance category they have been the best I have tried in all areas by miles.

Review: EXT's New Storia V4 Coil Shock
If you want to be pedantic about specific terminology and care that much about suspension performance why are you looking for a detailed, comprehensive and accurate review on Pinkbike and questioning it..go to MTBR suspension forums and argue with Dougal instead, this website is more for seeing what is being released, pretty pictures bla bla, you aren't going to find any 100% accurate totally unbiased information here, they are journalists and intermediate bike riders not suspension experts. In regards to starting sensitivity off the top on small bumps that can indeed be different to the sensitivity when landing because one is mostly down to LSC and the other is HSC so it's more than possible to have a shock that responds sensitivity during the start of its stroke over small bumps and still land harshly on bigger drops because of overdamped HSC, frame kinematics on full extension etc etc. My 11.6 is plush over small chatter but lands harshly off drops too, these high end shocks tend to have a lot more damping built in, especially at high speeds, they are for performance, not pottering about at 5-10mph over some roots and kerbs and soaking them up as if you have your tyres at 10 psi.

The Actual Weights of 15 World Cup DH Race Bikes
@stiingya: that's why I'm saying the performance is subjective because what you gain in suspension feel on the heavier bike becomes a negative in the corners losing agility. To answer your point about heavier riders suspension would work better, the point is the increased weight in the frame not the rider. The heavier frame acts as a dead weight if you will to oppose some of the spring force when going over a bump, force = mass x acceleration, if you increase the mass of the frame, for the same force on the trail it won't accelerate as quickly towards you therefore not transmitting as much shock through the pedals and handlebars to the rider. Look up sprung vs unsprung mass affects on suspension on google or youtube. I'm sure if you ever get chance to ride an ebike though then you will most certainly see what the difference is, they feel very different.
