I have a 10+ year old Reynolds XC, 26” wheelset. My 12 year old has been using these in a race series and after the final race, noticed this “chip” on the rear. The outer smooth finish has broken off leaving the mesh exposed. I’m thinking of just doing it myself as the age of the wheelset wouldn’t be worth the expense. The wheels have been bullet proof and there isn’t a dent or anything really bad other than this issue.
I’m thinking some sort of JB weld product might do the trick but has anybody done this & what did you use?

That’s not a chip, that’s a seriously compromised rim. It’s repairable if the bead is still good, but you shouldn’t let the little
guy ride that anymore. That’s itching to fail.
