Anyone have any suggestions for general riding and trail use? Thanks
Not sure what you're asking here. The chainring isn't usually something you need to change until you wear it out/you need to go up or down in size. The rear hub is QR, will stay QR, and you can't do anything to make it engage faster without replacing the rear wheel with something else as your cheapest option.
On that bike (if I remember the model correctly), adding a dropper post (and possibly a meatier front tire) would be a great start for general riding. A dropper will free you up to get more body movement on the bike to absorb the bumps (important on the hardtail) push through corners, and overall be more confident in the bike, while still being there to pop up for a quick climb without hopping off to move the seat around.
