Here's an article I wrote about Yeti's new derailleur that they've applied to patent. It allows for a perfectly linear movement. Very interesting...

Don't know if I see this as a good or bad sign....I was hoping the gearbox 6 bar patent was a sign of things to come, perhaps in a generation or two, but if they are only now filing patents for a new type of derailleur this month it shows these are more just up in the air ideas atm.. They'll probably sit in the patent office doing nothing for years on end like Shimanos 12 speed gearbox..

So this is a publication of a patent and the filing of this particular application was actually filed in June of 2018. But this derailleur idea has been in legal proceedings since Dec. 2014, based on the application paperwork trail. It's possible we see this sooner than later.

But, I'd be really surprised if Yeti decided to manufacture this themselves. If I were making decisions at Yeti, I'd be licensing it to Shimano or SRAM.
