Shimano slx m7100 brake compatibility?

Hi
I’ve had to replace my SLX m7000 right brake leaver with the 7100 I spec-ev. I couldn’t find a new m7000 anywhere. The issue now is that I have an older 11 spd Deore XT SL-M8000 shifter with the indicator. With the shifter beside the brake it is not reachable. I tried bolting it the bottom of the brake but it does not sit right.
Is there any way to get these working together. Is my best bet a new shifter?

Thanks I saw that one and tried bolting it the same way but it’s a different shifter. the indicator on mine gets in the way
This is it, I’m not sure it is I-spec. https://www.bike24.com/p2136382.html

Your shifter isn't I-Spec, it's a the bar clamp model.

You could remove the indicator an put a cover over it.

* I read a recent thread where someone replaced a old brake lever with the new XT 8100 I-Spec EV brake lever and had a similar problem with the gear indicator on the old shifter, they ended up cutting the indicator off the shifter so it would fit, they then realized the bar clamps on the old shifters are in a different position to the bar clamps on the new model shifters, they didn't like the position of the old shifter with the new brake lever. They ended up returning the 8100 brake lever and buying a 8000 brake lever.

I'd say you have 3 options....

1) remove the gear indicator (you mightn't like the shifter position)

2) get another brake lever that's not I-Spec EV (it doesn't need to be a SLX model)

3) get a new shifter (you'd probably have to get a 11 speed Deore 5100)

Thanks for the tip I have it on and adjust now.
I removed the gear indicator and put the brake on first then slid the the shifter on. The shifter mount sits nicely under the brake between the mount and the small raised nib at the end or the brake.
