OK, got my eagerly awaited 2022 Fox 34 Factory fork last week and set about installing it yesterday. I ran into a problem with the 200mm SRAM rotor and Guide 2 brakes I had installed on a 2021 Fox 34 Factory fork. I have the 40mm SRAM post mount adapter required for a 200mm rotor I used on the 2021 fork. Should be no problem, right? Wrong. The rotor contacts the Guide 2 caliper, preventing the rotor from freely rotating. It’s as though the post mount adapter isn’t positioning the caliper in the proper place/distance. To be clear, this exact set of brakes and adapter works perfectly on the 2021 34 fork.

I can’t figure out what is wrong, other than there is an updated post mount adapter. I’ve scoured the web looking for a reference to such a thing to no avail. The Fox install and owners manuals make no reference a new adapter. The fork accepts a 160mm rotor with no adapter, requiring post mount adapters for larger rotors.

anyone have any suggestions? Yes, I double checked I had installed the post mount adapter in the correct orientation. I’ve reinstalled the 2021 fork for the time being. Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Use some washers in addition to your brake mount adapter until you get adequate spacing.

The regular 2022 Fox 34 is PM 180, so you need a 20mm PM adapter for a 200mm rotor. This is updated from the last generation 34 which was PM 160 which is why you needed a 40mm adapter for that fork. The step-cast model retains PM 160

Hmmm, I'll give that a try. However, Fox's Fork - General Information Manual says the '22 34 is PM 160 though (https://www.ridefox.com/fox17/help.php?m=bike&id=689#mountingdiscbrakes). I'm assuming Fox updated this to the '22 information, though of course there's no guarantee Fox did update them...there is nothing about it in the documents that came with the fork. I don't have a 20mm adapter on hand so had to order one. Will post back when I get it with the results.

That is an outdated manual. I've built a few bikes with new 34s and can guarantee they are PM 180

Here are the 2022 tech specs, click on the regular 34 diagram and read the bottom left text box

Thank you! Much appreciated. As I mentioned, I've got a 20mm adapter on the way. Eager to get the fork installed and ride! Cheers!
