Ive been riding air shocks for 3 years and I havent found one that i'm in love with yet. I went out with a buddy who rode a coil on his trek slash and he loves it. Another buddy who rides a Pistola with a coil and loves it. I think im going to pull the trigger on a new trail bike BUT this time I want to try something with a coil. I'm thinking cane creek dbil coil or the one from DVO.
What 130-150mm trail bike do you ride with a coil?
2021 Santacruz 5010 with a db inline and love it. It makes the bike more planted through the rough. The stock Rockshox super delux air shock was really jumpy through the rough no matter the setting. Im not a "poppy" send it guy though....There is always good deals on rebuilt one's on here or Ebay. I got mine from Poland for $200.00 shipped, rebuilt, on Ebay. Just a thought if you want to try it out.
2019 Norco Sight (130mm rear) on a DVO Jade X coil. Moved to this coil from the DVO Topaz 2 air shock. The coil changeup has been amazing but I think thats a lot to do with the damper unit on the Jade X and the progressive spring im running
Had a trek fuel ex with DVO jade X, now on banshee phantom with dhx2. Would recommend, with climbing switches their isn't any reason not to. Jade X > Dhx2 imo
2021 Norco Sight. Went from the stock RS Deluxe Select with a Megneg to a Marzocchi Bomber CR with a tad longer stroke, so 157mm travel at the moment. So far I'm really liking it over the air shock, but will probably move to a progressive coil.
2021 SB130 LR with Push 11-6. Great sensitivity and really enjoy the ride. Keeps the bike tracking smoother through rough sections. The stock DPX2 was rather deflect-y through rocks. 10% loss in jumping performance, though i'm not much of a jumper anyways.
