Hey all, any of you folks on the Fugitive 138? This caught my eye as a solid option for long trail rides here in Tahoe/CA and for the occasional enduro race. I enjoy a solid pedaling platform and am currently on a Offering V1. The Offering has good traction and minimal bob but it doesn’t necessarily give you that instant power transmission. Is a fugitive a pretty spritely climber?

I went from a Chilcotin last season (in 160 mode) to a Fugitive 138 this season. I built mine to be a bike that can still handle some gnarly lines while be a more pedal friendly all day machine with the odd enduro race thrown in. So I bumped the fork to 160mm and added a -1 degree angleset, EXO+ tires with inserts, coil shock and big brakes.
It does exactly as I intended... the thing pedals well, has more "get up and go" than the Chilcotin and a supportive platform.
I think you'd find it pedals similarly to the Offering. While the 138 is more of a "trail" bike, Knolly's intent was to make it pedal better than their other offerings but have it still able to handle some big hits and gnar. I think there are probably some better pedaling bikes out there in that 130-140 range. But what most of them lack is ability to have your back on faster harder hitting trails and enduro races. With most bikes in this category, it's not too difficult to push them too far. The 138's suspension is beautifully supple off the top but provides lots of mid stroke support and quite a bit of ramp... so you don't have to fear following your buddies on their enduro sleds or jumping into the odd enduro race... I am continually surprised by the composure this bike offers on scary lines, deep fast chunk and big drops. At the same time, I don't think it gives up much to some of the better pedalers out there.
So.. depends on what you're after I guess. Hope that helps!
I just got a 2022 fugitive, sold my yeti sb150 for it. Holy shit it is capable, fast, poppy and fun! So far my favorite bike of all time here in grand junction Colorado. Bb is a little low, but not as many pedal strikes as other bikes. I was torn between a smaller yeti and this bike and I have no ragrets.
