Seven Springs Bike Park Reopening?

As of 2021, Vail Resorts bought out Seven Springs Resort just southeast of Pittsburgh. Seven Springs used to have a lift-serviced bike park (despite being poorly maintained) until being indefinitely closed in early 2020. As many of you may know, just about every resort that Vail owns has a lift-serviced bike park. I have spoken to some people that said management is having conversations about opening the park back up.

Just curious to know if anyone has any more knowledge or information about the possible reopening of the bike park? While Snowshoe is great, it would be nice to have something that is more accessible to the Pittsburgh region.

I was just at Seven Springs today . The word I heard is that they are planning on opening the bike park this upcoming summer. They are 90% certain. They are just checking to see if they think it can be profitable. That will all depend on how they manage the trails. If they don't keep up on maintenance and don't add to what they had it's going to be a tough sell.

Agreed!

Would love to ride seven again.

Not very surprised. They have not mentioned anything that I am aware of. I want to get down there sometime this summer just to ride the back-country trails and see if they're doing any bike park trail work. But for now, I'll just get another season pass to Snowshoe and spend my time there.

Doing the same thing.

I just spoke to some people at the resort this weekend. It doesn't look like they have plans on opening the bike park in 2024 .

At this point, I think we can all assume it's not going to happen. Vail has had ownership for several years now and not a thing has happened. It's too bad because it has great potential. There are some amazing trail builders in the western PA region that could really transform the place. I think we should just hope to hear official confirmation that it is or isn't going to happen from Seven Springs.

Does it still look as though there is no plans to open in 2024?Im a senior so I was hoping to get one more year of riding before moving away. I was also going to head up to 7 for a weekend to snowboard and I plan to check in and ask then.

Definitely ask around while you’re there and let us know what you find out, but they haven’t said a word so it’s most likely not going to open again.

Will throw this in here; as a current ski instructor at Seven Springs, and also as an employee of a bikeshop in downtown Pittsburgh when the weather is crap, the main thing I hear is that it is totally in the hands of Vail Resorts at the moment. There is a conversation, and it has been talked about even more lately with the poor weather, but Vail Resorts is ultimately the ones to give the go ahead. Might sound like a positive answer, but there have been talks of removing some slopes entirely from the ski trail map because expenses of maintenance are digging too much into the profits, so it really is hard to get a good read at the moment.

Snowshoe and Bryce also just absolutely suck in the main population target for Seven Springs that isnt NCWV or Western PA. Even the Morgantown crowd would still most likely prefer snowshoe to 7S if there was a bike park. So, given that Vail does not exactly see dollar signs at Seven Springs to begin with, major changes would have to be made in order for the go ahead on a bike park to reopen.
