3D Printed Cable Grommets

My bike has a grommet for the internal cable routing that is specifically designed to not except cable housing. Instead it is designed to take all the tension of the cable by itself which leads to a kind of sawing effect where the cable cuts the insert in half. Has anyone ran into this problem and tried to 3D print their own? If so what material did you use and how did it go?

If I'm understanding you correctly, instead of a grommet that lets a full-length cable housing pass through it, it uses a grommet as a cable stop? What frame is this? Got any photos? Certainly sounds like there's room for improvement.

It’s a Diamondback Haanjo and yes. The grommet at the entry into the frame is a cable stop and the grommet at the exit is just a 90 degree turn that the cable passes through with no way to allow a a housing to be used. Photos won’t upload but it basically just sets the cable up like a 90 degree scroll saw that cut the exit grommet at the base of the seat tube in half.
