Taking my bike to the shop for everything is sort of expensive. What are you all’s top ten tools you keep handy?

1) Good set of allen keys from 2mm to 10mm,
2) Cassette tool,
3) Chain whip,
4) Chain tool & quick link pliers,
5) Bottom bracket tool,
6) Torx T25 key,
7) Brake bleed kit,
8.) Spoke key,
9) Pedal spanner (if you can't use an allen key),
10) not tools but a good selection of greases, lubes and oils,
11) If you're feeling fancy, a bearing removal / press kit.

I’d add a derailleur hanger alignment tool, set of cable cutters, and a torque wrench.

Yes, although most modern derailleurs use hex bolts of various sizes for limits and b tension.

Yep, agreed. I maintain 4 bikes. Two with allen key limit screws, two with philips head screws.

You could add loads to this list. Your best bet is to start trying to do your own wrenching. You'll soon find out what you haven't got!
