Bike trade through mail?

I’m looking into doing a trade with a guy on a the Isle of Man, and I’m on the east coast, and he refuses to come to mainland for the trade. He says he’s shipped before, which I believe, as his buy/sell photo history is stacked of prior listings and photos, he sounds legit. Just I want to have all my bases covered so I don’t get scammed, IE I send him a decent bike and he sends me one that’s been through a war, or he sends me… air… and I sent him a bike?

He refuses to come to mainland for it, and I’m based in Newcastle, so the trip to Manchester would be a lengthy one, and the ferry over for him would be a costly one. He has apparently done this (Mail trade/ sell) before. Cheers.

A word of CAUTION: A seller's PB history - by itself - is not a good indicator for trustworthiness. Scammers have been hijacking old accounts - wolf in sheep's clothing.

If you have other indications to sort legitimacy then use those, just not PB selling history by itself.

Facetime with him and the bike. Or at the very least have the seller send a picture with the current date and your PB handle on a paper with the bike all in the same frame.

And read some of these threads here.

People report multiple scammers every day on PB BuySell. The scammers are crafty. They get banned and just change names and keep going. See this thread.

Advice: Take your time and be absolutely sure. If you feel like something isn't right or the seller is being reluctant for whatever reason then I say back away.
