Just discovered we can now catalogue things that aren't just bikes, it's on your profile page under bikes then components.
When did this get added I wonder?

I added some tyres just for a test, pretty cool.

Keen eye! I was only added yesterday evening. It's still a work in progress. But put it out there so I can test with real world data and get feedback.

So, there is a new feature on the Trailforks website, "Service Tracker".

Something I've selfishly wanted to create for MANY years, mainly so I can keep track of the oil changes on my own dirtbikes
But I went overboard and built much more than just something to track my oil changes. Its a very open-ended system for adding "service intervals" attached to a bike or piece of gear. These intervals can also optionally be attached to components which you can now also add to bikes. Then you can log service work you do, attached to an interval reminder, or just by itself. It's all optional.

You can create service intervals that get automatically updated from your ridelog data from the attached bike. Intervals can be on time, distance, rides, or a specific date. Can be recurring or not.

I've also built a database of major brands, to make tagging components faster, same with a database of models that will populate. There is also a DB of component types per activity, and I've set some default lifespan and service interval numbers on a per component basis.
When you setup a new bike, after is a link to a page with some recommended service intervals for you to add. This varies on the type of activity. There is also a link to add these to existing bikes.

Service warnings will show on your main ridelog page, they can be dismissed until the next interval, or snoozed for a week. Or you can stop being lazy and do the service and log it!

Service logs will also inject into your ridelogs table. I've also added small icons on the ridelogs table showing which bike that ride was with, if you click it, you can quickly change inline. I've also added the ability to set a "per-activitytype" default bike.
The most complex piece of this is tracking the component or interval stats from specific dates, or using all your past data. Part of this is the ability to add, remove, swap components to a different bike at a specific date.

There is also some basic integration with the PB Buysell.

This is all still very much "beta" and a work in progress. But I put it out there for others to use to collect feedback and see how to use it with live data myself. As always open to feedback & suggestions if you try it out.

3. where do you see the distance change units like that?

4. when adding what? a bike or component?

5. well a bike already has a "list on profile" option. I can make it so if that is selected you can share a link to your bike page. If you don't have a public profile, they one cannot view the page listing all your bikes.

6. none of the cost fields are mandatory?

7. you can add photos to the parent bike/gear. Could add ability to add component photos later once I see its being used enough.

8. you can export your service log data to a CSV file.

Indeed! the default bike doesn't work on mobile with touches. I'll fix that.

I'm also going to add currency option for cost fields somepoint this week.

Cool, can you see if you can enable gear for any bike or multiple bikes?

That would be really useful.

That is a much bigger change, sorry not gunna happen at least right now. That involves a lot of database and UI changes to have a one-to-many relation from a ride and hear.

Hello! I'm really impressed with this feature; I've been looking for something like this for a while. I have a question about the Service Intervals page. In the list, there's a column labeled 'status' that currently displays '0 hours' for me. Shouldn't it reflect the total number of hours I've ridden since the last service?

No, it's actually a new bike, just recently added it

So anytime you add a service interval, component, bike, or new ridelog it should set a flag on your account to check all your service intervals the next time the backend process runs to calculate the totals.

It seems you have added a ridelog since you added the service interval, so it should have data. I manually edited your service interval to trigger the "service_interval_trigger".

That led me to find that the background process was having an error. Fixed that and it should be generating the data properly now. You did nothing wrong!

Sweet. So the service interval is calculated periodically in the backend instead of whenever I add a ridelog, right?

Each time you post a ridelog your account is flagged to update service intervals. Then when a background process runs it will update. so Something like a 10min delay.

@toddnzmtb you can edit a bike and uncheck "active" this will make it sorted to the bottom of your bike lists.

Where is the "bike brand link" not working for you?

Did you specify a start date as today, otherwise it will use past history.

I only see 1 service interval on your account named "waxed chain", the last service date is Feb 17 and you have done 3 rides since then, and the service interval shows "3".
