Shimano XT brakes Issue

So I have shimano XT brakes that I just bought used from a friend. The rear has been bled twice now and still it will not engage fully with the rotors. It just moans and doesn't actually stop the rear wheel. Only slows it down. I do not know what else to do. Could it be brake pads? Or maybe rotors? Or maybe im not bleeding properly? Any help would be great.

Does the front brake work well? If so, how does the lever feel compare? If the lever feels the same then it sounds like a problem with your pads or rotor. If it's squishy, then it's probably a bad bleed.

By "moaning" you mean the sound it makes? Like a loud Chewbacca-like sound? Can you pull the lever without it touching the handlebar? (meaning: do you have a bite point?). Then i'd say you got some droplets of oil on your pads. Remove the pads, clean the disc and put the front ones in. If it works, that was the cause.

Exactly, like Chewbacca. The lever does not go to the handle bar. I'll try that. thanks!

The lever pull felt not quite exactly the same as the other. there may be a little squish to it, but it is loads better than it was. I'll check the pads. If the pads have oil on them are they shot?

O+

Yup. If the pads got oil on them get new ones.
