Whistler Bike Park - bike theft inquiry

I have been to plenty of bike parks in the USA, both lift access and shuttle. Generally speaking, If the park is small enough, I can lock up my bike to my car, or if I bring multiple, I would daisy chain all the bikes together for anti theft. And it works. But for Mammoth bike park and Trestle Bike park, I actually checked in my bikes into the hotel or Air BnB, and then I would pick up my pass 1 hour before the shop closes. And begin riding the following day. Yes, this does mean I plan my road trips around checking in at 3 or 4 PM. I do this because the parks are big enough for me to be paranoid of bike theft.

When I do visit Whistler in the near future, what is the general rule of thumb? Is it safe to lock up your bikes to your vehicle > walk to the ticket booth to pick up the pass > walk back to the car for your bikes. Or should I follow my same rule as I did for Mammoth and Trestles?

I ask because Whistler might be the Bike theft capitol. Are people crazy enough to bust out a Dremel or angle grinder in broad day light to cut off the chains?

When I go to Whistler, I take my bike right into the hotel at any hour of the day and then get access to their bike lockup. There is no need to get there at a certain time of day as they know you could be out riding late and then have a drink somewhere before getting back to the hotel bike lockup at any time of the day.

If you lock your bike up somewhere other than a hotel's underground parkade, say away from the main village and outside with a u-lock, I would not expect it to make it through more than one or two nights. Someone with a truck and big bolt cutters can cut a Kryptonite lock in 10 seconds. Your bikes would be much safer inside your vehicle than outside.

In terms of getting your pass, guest services at the base of the mountain is open at the same time as the lifts so there is no benefit in going the day before - there is no crowd to beat on the lifts so you are not going to save yourself any time but getting the pass the day before. I would personally not leave my bikes locked to my vehicle for more than a few minutes. I would prefer to ride the bike to guest services and go in there for a few minutes.

The other thing I would do is bring a combination cable lock and then lock that to one of the metal gates or posts in the area in front of the gondola entrance - that way you can lock up your bike if you need to use the washroom or want to have lunch or buy a pass without looking at your bike the whole time.
