1. these bikes are over engineered to a new high. this is ridiculous. more so than most nicolai bikes and thats saying something, i really don't see the plus side to the rail system. 2. the unsprung weight of all of these bikes is ridiculously high. the swingarm on the 303 for example is bound to weigh more than the front triangle. thats ridiculous. 3. whats wrong with the insane amount of pivots on the 303? the bore through the frame where the swingarm rocks forward is a perfect example of how bad this design is. im not saying i could have done better but it seems like there going a bit out of their way just to accommodate this rail.
i just really think this is stupid. the slopestyle bike does look nice atleast. the others look ugly and far to heavy. sub 40lbs? in your dreams!
edit* oh and as far as im aware, these are still single pivot bikes. so youve got all the negatives of that, amplified by grotesque amounts of weight. yay!
Yeti has to have something up their sleeves. They have to be tired of producing a 14 pound frame. The milling and machining on these bikes looks very promising. Maybe, they can build a frame that actually weighs 12-12.5 pounds versus what they claim. I'm sure weight is an issue that they deal with. After all, what is the point in engineering a frame that is only "good" to look at but isn't as nice to ride because of frame weight? You would have to think that riders would be bitching about the high weight of their race rigs.
This is old news. Last week news. They also have a redesign of the 303 (303-7) coming up and the freeride bike pictured above is called the Rail.
whatever dude, I thought i'd just share the Pro pics from their site with the PB community, rather than the lame'ol Sea Otter pics. I feel its nice to have some nice sold images and more info to supersede the speculation and "spy" pictures.
the little bike looks to have a 2.45 stroke and a 2.4:1 ratio .. so it looks like it has about 150mm of squish. This sounds like a good candidate to replace my as-x when production starts. good thing I went w/ a 1.125 steer tube and not the 1.5.
