Im in the same situation im looking to buy a demo 7, im 6'1 too, and I have no idea which one should I take ? do you have any advice ?
Ok,here goes..I'm 6"3" and I ride a medium 2008 spec demo 7..it really depends on how you ride,if your going to be doing full on DH,or throwing the bike about on a the freeride tracks with big jumps and berms etc..the reason I say this, a large frame will give u the more grounding feeling as u ride,a little more difficult to keep between your legs, with a little more weight to it,but the medium will give you so a more response when turning on more technical parts of a track,it's difficult to recommend a size when people ask the question, but really it's down to what u ride n how u ride it..I took mine to Fort William in May 09 n it was immense to say the least..it's a great all rounder bike so waht ever size u go for I'm sure you'll be happy, but I'd go for the medium..
At 5'4 the medium will be too big IMO. He'll have a hard time tossing it around. If he has a short inseam, he might not even get stand over clearance from the Top tube at 5'4. So if he wants children......no
measure his inseam and compare with the stand over on the specs.
