keep the 66s if they are working fine, imo, its just not worth the cost/hassel of changing it if it works, i had 888's and swapped them for the 66 a few years ago, still riding it as strong as ever, and i do all mountain as well, including some pretty rough DH, and i never even think twice if this fork can handle it

Yup, thanx for answers, I will most probably go for Fox 36 Talas RC2. What was the problem with 36 Talas before 08 model?

Nothing at all. I believe in 07 or 08 they did switch it from 150mm to 160mm of travel. That is the biggest difference.

changing for the 6 to the van 36 was the best thing ive done to my bike

150 - Naaay! I want 160, otherwise my headangle will go above 67 which is not funny at higher speeds or on tight singletracks with lots of roots and rocks. I hate steep head tube angle, I hate fighting with my bike that wants to go anywhere but straight.. I admire all PPL going really fast on 68 or higher.

Yeah exactly. For on a 6" travel bike, get the new models with 160. I have my 36 on a Foes 4X, so most of the time it's at 4" anyways, but on the occasion that I take it trail riding or some light DH or FR, then I'll bump it out making it pretty slack.

I just had the same issues with you on my Norco Six I sold my 66rc2xs and couldn't decide between lyriks or 36floats in the end I went with the fox's because they are lighter and I lovedmy mates van's so go for it:P

I have both forks a 07 66rc2x on my RM switch and a 06 fox 36 talas on my preston. My personal opinion is that the rc2x is far superior as far as the quality and feel of the travel. Of all of the suspension products i have tried i swear by the rc2x. However if you goal is to create an all mountain type ride then the lighter fox is probably the better choice. I think that the answer to your question is dependant on the type of all mountain riding that you do. If you are riding singletrack and not hitting really rough terrain or drops than i would also lean toward the fox.

Exactly! If you are considering a Rock Shox over that year 66, get the totem not the lyrik.

Totem - me like... NOOOOT! Smile it's just as heavy as 66 and it looks, well I like slimmer forks - let it be a politically correct answer. But I'm really happy to get so much consistently positive vibe about FOX, well I think it's gonna be me choice, Talas RC2 2008 Smile

The fox forks are amazing! You will not regret it, i run two sets of floats, best fork i have owned!

They've always been 140-160mm, the only change for 08' is the axle setup (Now tool-less QR)

Wrong, they have been 110, 130, 150 then from 06 onwards they were 100, 130, 160.

Yes, in 06 they went to 160, but also in 06 they went from travel adjustment in 3mm incriments of a turn dial to only three settings. Kinda takes away that happy medium setting I know and love on my 05. Granted, 10mm doesn't make that much difference in the grand scheme of things, but when you find what works best you should generally stick with it.

Yes, exactly but at least with the float 36 you can get it set at anything, i run custom 130 mill ones, no need for two more settings for me!
