I am looking at getting a long travel HT, I have been looking at the NS bikes bitch, DMR Exalt etc... but i dont know much so has anyone got any ideas and tips on bikes, frames and forks.
They all sound good, ive looked up the orange sub zero and i like it but it is out of my price range, not that i have a specific price limit as it depends on funds but i can't ship out almost 2k at once it will be more of a few months buying the parts. I would be using it for DJ and freeride so i dont know if i should get single speed or geared.
That second new orange looks great, that is the kind of thing i am after but i bet it cost him alot. Auctually could you find out how much it was, i dont mean to be nosie but that is just what i am after.
hes got it for sale at moment on here, £1500 i think hes after for it. if you're just wanting a frame try ebay, always a couple on there, got mine about 4months ago for £180 with crank. if you have a look round a few shops on internet some places have got full build for £1200
Dam i wanted that bike, £1500 is a bit much at the moment , i am having a persnol credit crunch! yeah i've been looking on ebay for a while but the trouble is you dont know quite what you are getting untill you have paid for it.
I have heard some good reviews on the bitch Domek but they are hard to get hold of and i have also heard that the steel frame doesnt last very long ont the latest model beause it isnt very strong steel.
heres mine, frame is a norco sasquatch (same as the manik but different part spec)fork is a 66rc2x which feels amazing on the bike. i do alot of north shore riding and dh and it has held up amazingly well.
DMR Ex(Alt) is an ideal frame to build up a burly hardtail
I would personally never buy another overbuilt aluminium alloy hardtail, they just beat the sh*t out of you...
the DMR, being 4130 cromoly steel with thinner diameter tubing in the rear, is still very very strong (actually stronger than alloy frames), way more comfortable than an overbuilt alloy frame as there is some flexure designed into the rear tubeset, and unlike aluminium, won't fatigue over time with every knock and bang
if you base your build on an Ex(Alt) with a Domain 318 fork, SRAM X-9 transmission, Juicy 5 disc brakes and DMR finishing kit (bar/stem/pedals/saddle,etc.) you should be able to custom build a good bike for around £1200-1300
