today i went and looked at a giant brass 2 day i think its an 09 it only has one gear on the front (no granny gears)so if your planning on doing heavy jumping i would recomend it but if your doing a bit of mountain biking i would proborbaly not recomend it.It is a great bike and can be used for a lot of types of riding and it looks great. If you are planning on buying one i would get on from jejames cycles cut down from £450 to £299. 2 cents

I have a giant brass 1 mate, they are ok for starting out... i have swapped out everything on mine now except the stem and headset... and a new frames on order Lol.

The only dodgy thing about them imo is the chain guide its rubbish if your going to be doing some bumpy riding down hills etc...

other then that its great to start with! Get an 09 one some people still have them and they will be mega cheap, the 2010 is the same bike just a diff color...

Or you can have my frame for £60 it comes with the headset, seat post and clamp... Smile

Whats the difference between a giant brass 1 and the giant brass 2? Moon

Components mate, frames the same

so is the brass 2 better?

No mate, Giant Brass 1 = best one, then the 2

With the STP (one up from the Brass frame) I think it goes

STP 0
STP 1
STP 2

I got the biggest one which was a Medium or large, im 6 foot ish and it was quiet nice, if your smaller then me go for the one below the biggest.

I think its a good starter bike, but your better off going for the cheapest Giant STP as thats a frame you can keep ! Smile

I used to ride a Brass and honestly, it didn't feel too great. The top tube angle seemed a bit too horizontal for me.

For the money, I would rather buy a used STP. I paid $450 for my barely used near mint 2007 STP1
