How do i paint my pedals properly?

I've got some DMR V12's which are running silky smooth and still feel brand new. Unfortunately they're black and have a good few scratches on them and i really don't see the point in buying new ones. So how do i paint them? I'll take the pins out obviously and maybe get new ones, but do i need to pretty much take the whole pedal apart, to stop any crap getting into the bearings? I work for a bearing company so get get them easy anyway. Whats the process for a good long lasting finish? I was thinking maybe matt sky blue or matt olive green....

i dont know if there is a way to paint them and they wont chip and loook like ship.

Well i just want them to turn out as good as they do out of the box really, i know im probably not gonna get them any better than that. Was thinking, to completely strip the pedal, (not sure if the bearings are pressed in?) sand down as best i can, probably use a soapy brillo pad, leave to dry, primer and spray paint a few coats on and rebuild. Does that sound about right?


Edit: Do i need to put laquer over the top of the paint once it's dried?

it will chip really bad i think the best shop is try and get them powder coated

prepare the surface well with primer
use enamal
then gloss
then ride for 2 days till they look shit, then repeat for the rest of ur pedals lives
thell look good for a while but the paint wont last long

use lots of black, then seriously use like an entire can of clear coat.

then ride a few days and repeat. spending hundreds of $. Like said a few notes above.. POWEDER COATING is probably the only good way.

You could just get them anodized... But it'll cost.

so just because your pedals are scratched ( but running great) you are going to buy new ones just to match your bike??

might as well put your bike in a display case after that. Don't wanna damage it anymore. haha

just clean them and then spray them there only pedals there going to get scratched no matter how well you spray them, your feet are going to be covering them anyway .
