Mountain Bike action FTW! they get a little bit of every style of riding but mostly all mountain and they also do interviews with riders and details of their bikes
If you want world cup coverage, DH racing, some freeriding, and just all gravity events news, then decline is the way to go. They have product reviews every month, the best coverage on sea otter and interbike, new prototypes and just tonnes of sick stuff. By far the most info. But I'm also sure it's the most expensive, something like 8 bucks an issue or more.
MBA magazine is best to think of as your fathers mountainbike mag. It's the mtb of the 'weekend warrior'. Not the best coverage of any events, if any. Good for XC and AM riding. Usually includes a little section on how to get in shape or what to bring in your patch kit and so on. Pretty cheap.
BIKE magazine is also one of the better ones, usually sticking with all mountain, it also covers DH and FR on occasion. Also cheap
Dirt Rag magazine is one of the worst in my opinion. It has little or no info on any events, and I've yet to figure out its purpose in life. It mostly contains stories from the members/readers about how they almost got bit by this snake that one time...

bahahahha MBfiction more like it. That mag is such crap, a bunch of jerking off sponsors. The advice they give is garbage, and they simply get things wrong some time. The last issue I read had a picture of a manitou shiver.
Decline all the way baby, best race and rider coverage with super solid honest reviews. I also have found the UK mags give good reviews too
