That list swan... tisk tisk... TP was in there....
Did anyone else make mixed tapes from the radio with a cassette recorder? I remember waiting around for hours on end to hit the button for a CV song I liked...they took days... weeks even.
I have a vivid memory waiting for that America song about a horse with no name... or was that Bread? I dunno... but different times from youtube.
The best thing ever back then was KCMU (now KEXP) had a midnight show on friday or Saturday called Brain Pain. It saved my life.... All metal. All the time. I had many mixed brain pain tapes....
Never used a mic to record from radio... but did have a four channel mixer from radio shack and obliterated heaps of tapes overlaying songs and recorded soundbites... I remember having epic scrolls of at what moment in the recording the various bits would come in
Father in law isn't much of a VH fan ! We listen to FM and the Eagles endlessly at the cabin on 8 track ( for real . . . F*ing 8 track )
Here the one I can vividly remember growing up listening to and still will go back to some of them.
-Steve Miller Band -Eagles -Bob Segar -Jackson Brown -America -Van Halen -Tom Petty -John cougar Meloncamp -Steely Dan -Jefferson Starship.
this is the most corn fed American band list to not include bruce springsteen that has ever been made.
i was watching HEAT last night and Bob Segar came on. i had a "f*ck where has he been on my playlist lately" moment of clarity. Heat is such a great movie to me. perfect in so many ways.
Parents never really listened to Springsteen.. Not sure why..
