I am looking to replace my session 88 frame, basically its narrowed down to an Intense 951 or a Transition Tr450. I have heard that the intense are weak? is there any way to get it non FRO and would it be suitable for anything from the whistler bike park to Dh racing? Ive also heard that the TR450 is a bad choice because its new. I really need help deciding. Your opinions are much appreciated

Thanks

If you can try to test ride one of each, or at least a bike with similar suspension types as the bikes you are looking at will ride completely different being a dual link(virtual pivot) and a single pivot. Both bikes are race specific so they are on the edge between strong and light, but could both be used to FR as long as your not a hack

if you want a tough and reliable race bike and your fine with spending the cash on a 951 or tr450, get a shocker.

The FRO bit is just fine just ignore it.

What about the Glory? Pretty cheap frame this year!

951 is super legit, until you break a dropout, they are about $250 CAD for a new one.
Don't know if I'm a fan of the TR450. I would recommend a Shocker, Demo, or if you have the cash a Revolt.

I was thinking of a revolt, just the red 951 is so badass. The whole FRO thing kinda threw me off although ive got a session 88 so you cant really get thinner more breakable tubing than that. I was looking at a shocker it just i can get a good deal on an intense or transition.

Tr450. Take my brothers word for it, he got it in the mail last Wednesday and he still cant believe how amazing it is. I stared at it for a good 2-3 hours in the garage on Wednesday. I also did a quick squish test (without him knowing) on some hardcore curbs, i still cant describe how jealous i am of his bike's performance.

simply an amazing designed bike, far better than anything intense can produce.

how does it perform while braking through rock gardens (450)? Is is a floating pivot?

It's a single pivot with a linkage driven shock, like a Flatline, Revolt, or Supreme.

FRO= For race only. If you value your moneys worth and want a frame for more than a year, DO NOT buy FRO frames. They remove the double buttings from the welds to save weight, but also makes the bike weaker. In a year, you will have multiple mini fractures in the welds in your frame, and your frame will fall apart. Not to mention the Intense FRO and the TR450 both on have year warrentys.
