Has anyone tried an air shock on the newer shape Bighits? (2009 upwards)

Would like to hear how the bike feels with an air shock!

I bought mine 2nd hand with a rockshox monarch on the back. Personally I
find it blows through its travel too quickly and doesnt have very good small bump sensitivity. Furthermore it also upsets the balance of bike slightly in the sense that it's top heavier that usual.

With enough mechanical know how you can tune an air shock to be more progressive and not blow through its travel but coil everyday.

Yeah thats what I'm going for
It's just a pain to find decent 8.5 x 2.5 shocks.

The whole purpse of an air shock is to feel like a coil shock. Why fiddle with a wannabe, just go for the real thing! Big Grin

which rear shock strength do you guys ride with the "newer" BigHit 2011 ?
I had 450lbs from the stock one, but it smashs several times with ~75kg on drops. after a upgrade to 550lbs its better, but appreciable harder... (stock X-Fusion shock)

Now i'm thinking about to buy a Fox VAN RC ... but with which strength?
Should the Fox VAN clearly be better than the X-Fusion, so I can go back to 450lbs or preventively 500lbs (between the old and my current) ??
